Salvage

Hydra Marine Services was the diving contractor chosen by Kasper Diving and SMIT International Ltd. in the successful roll-over of the Seaspan's 'Rigger', a self-dumping log barge.

The barge overturned while dumping logs at Avalon Point along the west shore of Thornborough Channel in Howe Sound, BC. Additional work included retreaval of both grapples and three boom boats from a water depth of 160 ft.

The barge was towed to nearby Gambier Island, where she was righted with the twin cranes still attached.

Hydra Marine Services Lifting the Seaspan's tug

Hydra Marine Services was the diving contractor chosen by Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. in the successful lifting of the Seaspan's tug the 'Planet'.

The tug overturned in the Fraser River, downstream from the Port Mann Bridge in Surrey, BC. The current of the Fraser River resulted in WCB not allowing a 'double lift' from two seperate water derricks

A temporary pile supported jacking rig was constructed and the tug was successfully salvaged.

Hydra Marine Services was the diving contractor chosen by Kasper Diving in the successful lifting of the two Chinese vessels that were used to smuggle illegal aliens into Canada.

The ships sank at the wharf where they were berthed in Port Alberni, BC. Both ships were subsequently re-floated in a day.
